Light Among The Trees - pre-Christmas exhibition
We welcome you to Light among the Trees
A stunning exhibition at the Physic Gardens in Petersfield, GU32 3JJ
Friday November 3rd – Saturday 4th from 10am – 4pm both days.
Light among the Trees is a collaboration between myself and my husband Nick McMillen. We are exceptionally lucky that our work and creative passions are deeply rooted in the earth, interwoven in subject, materials and intention. Plants and the natural world and our personal relationship to these fundamental elements of our lives are where we both celebrate and explore our creativity.
Nick and I met, working and living in the woods, and trees will always be our inspiration. Blending Nick’s botanical charcoal drawings which unveil the hidden wonders of the woods, and my interior design weaves, crafted from the very branches of trees makes the most perfect sense for this exhibition.
I absolutely love making woven lampshades and interior lighting solutions. The play of light through the delicate spaces between the rods, the pattern and texture adding elements to your home to light the dark corners and sooth the mind. As any interior designer will tell you, lighting plays an essential part to creating a harmonious and beautiful space in your home and I love being part of that process.
Nick has some extraordinary new original drawings, not yet shown in publics to show you. He will also have prints for sale and be taking orders for Christmas, and be selling a selection of his beautiful art cards.
I will be showing a selection of lightshades, baskets and some woven festive offerings.
Recently I invited a friend to our exhibition, and she said, ‘Oh what will you do if it rains?’ This made me realise that although many of you may have heard of the Physic Gardens and probably visited the garden on a dry, sunny day, you may not be aware of their small but very lovely exhibition space. We are really looking forward to inhabiting this lovely, bijou space!
So we welcome you to join us there with a hot drink and enjoy the chance to explore our exhibition pieces whilst sheltering from the rain.
